Same Brassicaceae family as horse radish and has similar looking. Daikon is bigger and with a high water content. It is not spicy like horse radish either which is rather sweet and jucy. Average size in Japan is 40cm but smaller here in NZ, about 30cm. You may have tried Daikon at Japanese restaurant as a part of salad.(And it has great, not-well-known function!) You can find Daikon at some supermarket such like Pak’n Save, sold as Daikon Radish. Daikon is sometimes called Chinese horse radish or Korean horse radish at asian supermarket.
